Happy to welcome the UK debut performance by Zywizna, a collaborative project between two distinct voices in underground Polish music – Genowefa Lenarcik and Raphael Rogiński. With guitar and voice they reimagine traditional Kurpian folk songs within a new experimental context; making music that is as much about the past as it is about the possible future. Also representing the Polish underground are WIDT, two sisters who create oneiric live shows, using abstracted operatic vocalization flowing in the ether alongside real time video feedback-based visuals. Sharing a hymnal dexterity with WIDT; Glasgow-based Cucina Povera will open the concert with her reflective compositions, weaving her voice, bare synth lines and field recordings into circling mantra-esque refrains.
