Prolific and provocative, we are delighted to have extreme German computer artist Florian Hecker at this years’ festival. Working independently and in collaboration across an array of platforms (live releases, multi-sensory installations, publications and even experimental drama), Florian’s work has been presented at the likes of MoMA in New York, the Venice Biennale, The Tate and Centre Georges Pompidou, and has worked in collaboration with the likes of Russell Haswell, Yasunao Tone and Aphex Twin. In performances, publications and installations, Hecker deals with specific compositional developments of post-war modernity, electro-acoustic music as well as other, non-musical disciplines. He dramatizes space, time and self-perception in his sonic works by isolating specific auditory events in their singularity, thus stretching the boundaries of their materialization. Their objectual autonomy is exposed while simultaneously evoking sensations, memories and associations in an immersive intensity.
