Counterflows and the Goethe-Institut Glasgow present: Counterflows Residency// Andrea Neumann and Adam Campbell// CCA Creative Lab // 29 MAR 2015 – 03 APR 2015 // Presentation SAT 04 APR 2015, 16:00 // Free
After studying classical piano in Berlin, Andrea Neumann explored the piano for new techniques and sound possibilities. Reducing the instrument to its strings, its resonance board and cast-iron frame, she plays an unmounted ‘leftover’ of a piano, with the help of electronics to amplify and manipulate the sound. Neumann has been significantly involved in the formation and development of the “echtzeitmusik” scene in Berlin, which borders on fields as varied as noise, electronica, contemporary composed music, performance, and sound art. She has co-organized “Labor Sonor,” a series for experimental music, film and performance in Berlin since 2000.
Andrea Nemann will also perform a solo work “Letraton Nr. 9” at 16:30, Sunday 5th April at the Glad Café, Glasgow.
Adam Campbell is a musician and sound artist from Glasgow. He works in the fields of improvisation, live performance, software design, analogue and digital synthesis and installation. Mainly found in collaborative contexts, his work has been presented across Europe and North America.
The Counterflows Residency series is an important aspect of the festival’s commitment to exploring the processes embedded in music making. The creative residency brings together artists for whom working collaboratively lies at the heart of their practice.
